Decospan specialises in the large-scale production of customised components for the furniture and interior industry.
Challenge
Ferwood and Decospan have worked closely together in order to modify and upgrade Decospan’s 24,000 sqmt production facilities in France.
Following the successful installation of a refurbished Ferwood Approved fully automatic Stefani edgebanding line in 2018, Decospan were keen to replace another aging edgebanding line due to spare parts becoming obsolete.
Solution
The brief was set and following a visit to Ferwood’s headquarters in Pollenzo, Italy, Cedric de Toffol of Decospan and his team agreed on a Stefani Evolution SSB double combined edgebander and additional equipment.
The line needed to be customised to work effectively with extremely varied panel lengths. The modifications were completed during the refurbished process and were finished within seven months.
Result
Cedric de Toffol continues, « Within the agreed timeframe, we were watching the machine being fed our veneered panels on a test run in Ferwood’s showroom. We would have been waiting at least two years for a new line like this to be built for us. Instead, our fully reconditioned edging line was fully up and running and ready for delivery. »
Timed to perfection, Ferwood’s engineers delivered the new Stefani line to their facilities and once fully commissioned, the old line was dismantled and transported to its new home. « This was a huge selling point for us, » explains Cedric de Toffol . « Ferwood’s team were able to coordinate the installation of our new line - and the dismantling of our old line - so there was no costly disruption to our production. By solely working with Ferwood throughout the process, the whole transaction ran like clockwork. »
